I am intersted in cohousing so I am on their email list. Today I got an email seeking a 2008 conference organizer for the Cohousing Association of the United States. I immediately thought of someone at dailykos as the organizers for the yearly conference in Las Vegas were awesome. This is a paid position on a consultant basis with a good chance of renewal for 2009's national conference.
The home page of the association is cohousing.org (I can't link it as I get error message) and the slide show is a good starting place to get an idea of all the different communities. Most look pretty upscale to me but after reading the classifieds I see that there are some very affordable ones.
Here is the job description:
· Planning a timeline of necessary tasks
· Securing a venue at which the conference is to be held
· Producing an overall budget as well as a cash-flow budget
· Creating a volunteer job structure
· Recruiting and overseeing volunteers to serve in the high-level positions within that structure
· Delegation of appropriate levels of responsibility to these high level volunteers
· Creating - in consultation with the board of directors - a regular reporting schedule to ensure a good flow of communication concerning the progress of the conference
· More frequent and as-needed communication with the board's delegated supervisor
· Onsite coordination of the conference itself, and
· Production of a post-conference report to the board.
The email has a pdf version with lots more info that I can email to anyone interested.
The return address is http://www.editor@cohousing.org so I guess you could get more info there. I hope someone can get this great employment opportunity.
